Principal's Letter

As principal of the Donald E. Woods Opportunity Center, I would like to welcome you to the 2023 – 2024 school year. With a STUDENTS FIRST mind set, increasing the graduation rate and becoming an “A” school district will become a reality.

The custodial staff has cleaned, staff has been hired and we are ready to get the new school year started. I want to give a warm welcome to the new staff and wish the staff that is leaving, well in their new endeavors. Being collectively committed, jointly supportive and mutually accountable will guide DWOC stakeholders’ decisions that impact student learning.

It is a choice to make it a great day!

It is a pleasure to serve as principal of DWOC. I am very proud of all the accomplishments, high achievement and awards over the last eight years. Let’s make it a great year.

“I Own This!”

Sincerely,
Mr. Rodney Bellamy, Ed.S.
Principal

Our History

In 2005, our 250-student facility was staffed with Polk County Public School personnel, including a Principal who has served as an instructional leader in Florida. At Donald E. Woods Opportunity Center (DWOC), we serve students from grades 6-12, from middle schools and high schools in the Eastern Polk County, Florida area. We strive for our students to return to their home schools as soon as possible.
